Have you ever said yes when you meant no, or no when you meant yes? This event is for you. Backlash is producing a new consent workshop as part of our ongoing efforts to protect adult consent, especially in the BDSM and sex positive communities.
Getting and Giving What We Want has been developed by myself (Blake) with my co-facilitator Felix. So far we’ve run it a number of times at little festivals and got a really good response. This will be the first time we are delivering it in London. It’s happening at 7pm on Tuesday 2 October – just in time for the London Fetish Weekend – at the Apple Tree, a fab new LGBT venue in Clerkenwell. Tickets are limited and only £10!
We will explore consent, boundaries, and ways to sensitively communicate with other people to make things as lovely as possible.
This is a three-hour experiential workshop including discussion, partner work and teaching. A traffic light game offers the chance to exchange consensual touch, in which you will be invited to listen to your body to discover your “yes”, “maybe” and “no”, and communicate with your partner. Other exercises provide opportunities to practice stepping out of people-pleasing roles, and into a powerful relationship with our own consent. Learn how to negotiate for what you want, set boundaries, and end unwanted interactions in ways that are graceful and feel good.
The lessons we can learn from physical touch generate a valuable communication toolbox which is relevant to all the ways we relate. Using these tools can help us protect our boundaries and realise our desires – in sex, love and throughout our whole lives.
Backlash is proud to host this event as part of London Fetish Weekend, a collection of kink events produced in collaboration between local event promoters and producers that showcases the diverse smorgasbord of kink that London has to offer. The four day weekend includes workshops, bazaars, cabaret and play parties, with events all over London to suit kinksters of all ages, energy levels and experience.
Before you get your kink on, come to our workshop and level up your consent and communication skills to boost your flirting confidence, learn how to hold your boundaries powerfully and gracefully, and negotiate to create the best experiences possible for everyone involved.
Don’t miss out on the other London Fetish Weekend events later in the week!
Backlash are producing and sponsoring this event, which is enabling us to make tickets available for just £10 each, with five spaces on request for people who cannot afford to pay, so that there won’t be people excluded for lack of funds. If you would like to reserve a concession ticket, please email Blake on hello (a) pandorablake.com.
